Nada Yoga & Mantra (Chanting)
Nada Yoga & Mantra (Chanting)
Nada Yoga
The literal translation of the word “nada” is “flow of consciousness”, the usual meaning of the word is “sound”.

Human beings are like chords or strings vibrating at different frequencies.
Nada Yoga tunes us into ourselves. We become aware of our own vibration and we can give our vibration expression through song or chanting.
This heightens our awareness for the duration of our practice and beyond.
I would like to invite you to come 15 mins early to class if you would like to practice some Maha Mantras. Feel welcome to walk into a class if a group is chanting. Find a mat, pillow and blanket and turn off your phone. Feel free to join in or just listen and relax.
Maha Mantras are Universal Mantras, good for all of us and designed to uplift the personality. There is no conflict with religion or philosophy; these Mantras simply enhance your own personal belief. The mantras that we will practice are listed below:

Om Chanting.(9 times)
OM is the sacred sound of the universe; the single syllable to which the entire cosmos vibrates.
Repeated aloud, the sound of OM is said to be the nearest that the human voice can come to the sound of the universal vibration.
There are four parts to the sound OM: “a” “u” “m” and the nasalized humming after sound of the “m”( OM is spelled this way because the ”a” and the “u” are merged together when OM is spoken).
At end

Lead me from the unreal to the real.
Lead me from darkness to light.
Lead me from death to immortality.
May all beings dwell in happiness.
May all beings attain auspiciousness.
May all happiness be unto the whole world.
We pay homage to the universal consciousness which nourishes all beings.
May we be liberated from the death of ignorance through knowledge of our immortal essence, just as the cucumber is severed from the bondage of the vine.
Shanti means peace.
Hari om means we have finished and farewell.
